Why this add-on exists

Growing a gym means running promotions and trials — without bolting on a second plugin or a spreadsheet. Gym Builder and your payment gateway handle memberships beautifully, but there’s no native way to run a coupon, share a discount link, or offer a free trial. GB Promotions & Trials adds all three on a gateway-neutral core: coupons sync to your gateway, every redemption and trial is recorded in one dashboard, and it all degrades gracefully when a gateway isn’t active.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the Gym Builder plugin to use this?

Yes. GB Promotions & Trials is a companion add-on that requires Gym Builder 2.5.0 or newer to be active. If Gym Builder isn’t active or is out of date, the plugin shows an admin notice and exits cleanly — your site keeps working normally.

Which payment gateway does it work with?

Stripe today, through the GB Stripe Payments add-on. The core is gateway-neutral by design, so additional gateways can be supported later — the coupons, trials, reminders and member dashboard all carry over.

Will my site break if Stripe isn’t active?

No. The add-on boots gateway-neutral — the admin dashboard still works, and coupon sync / checkout injection simply no-op until a payment gateway is present. No fatal errors.

Do free trials require a card?

Your choice, per site. “Charge automatically” collects a card at signup and converts at trial end. “Require a card to continue” starts the trial without a card and cancels if none is added before it ends — never a surprise charge.

Where do members see their promotions?

A Promotions tab is added to the Gym Builder student dashboard — a live trial countdown plus a history of applied discounts. No separate page, no extra shortcode.

Will it conflict with my theme?

No. Every frontend CSS class is prefixed with gbpt- and the styles are scoped, so the dashboards and showcase survive whatever theme is active.

Where is the data stored?

In four dedicated database tables (coupons, coupon↔gateway map, redemptions, trials) created on activation and dropped cleanly on uninstall.
